About the Speaker
Mejar (B) Mohd Zin Mokhtar
.
He is a senior lecturer at Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN). Prior to being a lecturer at UNITEN, he was the Malaysian Armed Forces Education Officer (ATM). He has 10 years of experience in coaching in the ATM. Most of his services in ATMs involve the construction of coaches and the formation of individual characters. He has been trained as a "Master Trainer" by Tiggi's Leadership Academic Studies in Teaching and Learning Training Initiative. He holds a Master of Information Management from MARA University of Technology and Bachelor of Science (Mathematics) and Computer with Education from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. His main research areas are educational technology, mathematical education and big analytical data in higher education.

OVERVIEW
.
SPSS is the data analysis package of choice for people wanting to analyze quantitative data. However, most practitioners find dealing with quantitative data quite daunting. Although most practitioners are quite comfortable with qualitative research methods and analysis, they tend to shy away from using quantitative statistics. However, the ability to perform quantitative data analysis is increasingly becoming an important skill to possess. Actually most people’s fear of statistics is unfounded. The advent of computer software programmes such as SPSS that can be used to analyze data, has meant that people do not have to know or learn mathematical formula in order to be able to perform quantitative statistical analysis. Nowadays, all needs to know is the most appropriate analysis to perform on their data and obtain the information they need to know.

This is a hands-on session where tips and tricks are given to students to help them use the SPSS software to analyze quantitative data effectively.

WHO COULD BENEFITS FROM THE COURSE ?
.
This workshop is offer for postgraduate students who are involved in quantitative data analysis. If you are involved in qualitative research, you might expand your idea to include quantitative techniques.
This workshop will also be valuable for researchers, academicians, and consultants involved in quantitative data analysis.

BENEFITS.
.
At the end of the workshop, participant would be able to:
.
Differentiate between parametric and nonparametric statistics.
Understand how the SPSS program works.
Input data into SPSS and save it.
Perform an analysis by using SPSS.
Interpret the data output.
Report the statistical results correctly.
