Registration Virtual Workshop on Doing A Critical Literature Review

Overview
This one-day course is designed to help postgraduate students in writing literature review that is appropriate for a dissertation or thesis. The course will cover the basics of literature review by answering commonly asked questions such as:
• What is a literature review?
• Why do one needs to do a literature review?
• What should be done before writing a literature review?
The course will also emphasize skills on evaluative reading and review writing. Hands-on activities will follow where participants shall practice the skills of synthesizing and identifying common themes in selected literature, as well as citing and paraphrasing. Subsequently, participants will understand and be aware on:
• How to write a good literature review.
• Things to avoid in writing a literature review.
• How to write a literature review that conforms to academic conventions.

Speaker Profile
Dr. Razamin Ramli was born in Kedah, Malaysia on 11 August 1962. She obtained her B. Sc. in Mathematics-Statistics from Wichita State University, Wichita, Kansas, USA in 1984, M. Sc. in Applied Mathematics from California State University, Hayward, California, USA in 1989, and PhD in Operational Research-Artificial Intelligence from Universiti Sains Malaysia in 2004. At present, she is an Associate Professor at the Department of Decision Science in the School of Quantitative Sciences, Universiti Utara Malaysia. Her main research interests are in optimization, meta-heuristics, evolutionary algorithms, planning and scheduling problems, and mixed-methods. Dr. Ramli is a member of the Management Science and Operations Research Society of Malaysia (MSORSM), and also a member of the International Association of Computer Science and Information Technology (IACSIT).
